His owner did not want him anymore so our chairperson who has a big heart took him in to help find him a nice pet home. Sally is almost 3 yrs old and was found as a stray, most of her hair missing due to mange. She now sports a fine deep black coat, and more importantly, an excellent personality. Sally is one of the most sensible dogs here, well able to play with the gang but also quite willing to remove herself and go curl up in a bed by herself at times. Millie is a two year old ex racing greyhound and we have a very special appeal for her. Millie is very shy and has little or no confidence. She runs away very frightened when strangers approach. Millie is getting to know the girls at the sanctuary and is slowly learning to trust them, however if somebody she doesn't know approaches her she just flees. Millie is fine with her kennel mates but when people are around she does tend to hide behind them. She doesn't join in at playtime she watches from a distance. Millie will go for her walk on the lead. Usually when playtime is over its so hard to get the dogs back into the kennels, but Millie just dashes back into the safety of her kennel.We would love a quiet home with a kind patient owner who will understand Millies fears and work through them with her. Millie is so gentle and sweet, we would love to see her in a home where she is safe loved and someone's special dog. Sofi is still shy or frightened of new people, though there has been great improvement. An affectionate girl who is up for a belly rub when she feels relaxed, Sofi seeks an experienced and quiet home where she can continue to learn that people aren't so bad after all. Sabhdh (rhymes with five), means 'deer' in Irish, and this leggy lady with her long neck and slim lines only needs some antlers to look like one! Almost 5 yrs old, Sabhdh is eager to please and loves attention. She is playful with the other dogs, but not overly so, and looks you straight in the eye when you are speaking to her. Very cheerful, tail always wagging, great on the leash and in the car, she could be a very good model for a younger dog to follow. About 3 yrs old, Mikey arrived here a bundle of nerves, a result of his history. Mikey has settled down quite a bit, though he does still get himself wound up at the sight of a leash or, his very favorite thing in the world: PEOPLE. Mikey adores people, but is over exuberant. As it is now, he calms the moment someone just puts a hand on his side - a sign that he is just starving for affection. He is a lovely friendly boy, black with white speckles on his coat, who gets along with all the other dogs. This little fella is Harley. He is a lucky dog. A farmer while harvesting his field found poor Harley and his siblings abandoned in a box. Luckily he brought the puppies to the right plave. He was very skinny and his skin wasnt the best, but he is coming on leaps and bounds now. He is 10 weeks old. He is a happy little fella. He loves his cuddles and loves his naps on the couch. Ciara is a small-medium 6 year old who is a well-behaved and well socialised lady. Very good on the leash and in the car, Ciara adjusted to life here very easily, and blended immediately with the other dogs. No shrinking violet, however, she can run hard and play hard with the rest of them, though seems to be well able to keep the hooligans in line should they start playing a bit too hard. She does not have a tendency to jump up or be over-exuberant, (though she loves a good roll in the grass) and so might do well in a family with smaller children. Daisy is a two year old ex racing greyhound. She's a gorgeous girl and if you are looking for a dog with lots of charachter then look no further than Daisy. She's a very active bouncy girl, who loves to be in the middle of what ever might be happening. She's intelligent and very curious, if the truth be told she's a cheeky madam but very lovable. Daisy loves to play, she charges around at top speed. She has learned very quickly all about toys. Daisy loves to play fetch. She gets on great with Harvey one of her kennel mates. If she fetches the toy before him she runs into her bed and hides it, leaving him wondering where did the toy go. Daisy can run rings around poor Harvey. She's very pretty and is growing a lovely new coat. Daisy loves everyone she meets. Despite her small size, Miss Curiosity is always on the move looking for something to do, something to play with, someone to play with, a person to follow around, a person to smother with kisses, a dog to run with...whatever. Just two and a half years old, recently-arrived Kelly arrived here in early December 2009 as a stray, with a very poor and raggedy coat, irritated skin, hungry as a horse, and so tired you could knock her over with a feather. She is a very small lady, quiet, biddable, appreciative, and yet well able to share living space with 5 very robust and active greyhounds. Ailish is approaching 3 yr old and is a very confident, absolutely fearless little madam. Small in stature but with the heart of a lion, Ailish is extremely bright, very cheerful, and gets along with all the other dogs here because she is certain she is the Queen of the Greyhounds. She was picked up as a stray in extremely poor condition, but is fully recovered and has an unusual black coat with shades of brindling in it. is a beautiful 4 year old black greyhound who has just finished his racing career. He has been a very popular member of our kennel and enjoyed lots of success on the track and we feel that he now deserves a nice retirement home with lots of love. Having just turned 1 in April 2009, Gavin is a very happy and biddable boy. He gets along with the other dogs in his group but does try to get away with being a bit bossy. is one of the most Beautiful Fawn Greyhounds that I have ever seen, he is totally to die for, he is just losing his heavy coat now so imagine how he will look when that is over. Denzel is only 11 months old, he is very shy and slightly timid but I have no doubt that he will come out of himself in a very short time in his new home and outshine any dog in the area. He will suit any home where there are big dogs as he is not used to small ones or cats and will be suitable to a family where there are no young children, he is only used to his kennel enviroment and that of his owners and the other greyhounds. Arrian is a magnificent 2 yr old pussycat. About 30 inches/76 cm tall at the top of his back, he towers over several of the dogs here. Arriving a bit frightened of people due to having been very badly treated, he is still a littel shy, but friendly. He gets along well with the other dogs, is good on the leash and in the car, and although he has gotten loose twice, stayed nearby and was very easy to get back. He is a big very handsome boy. Depending on his mood, he has different facial expressions! He's a lovable boy. He adores meeting people and always has a big welcome for everyone. When he came to us, Jacks coat wasn't in great condition. However as you can see from his photo, Jack is shedding his kennel coat and is growing a beautiful black glossy coat. Jack is a bouncy active boy. He loves to play and charge around in the fields at top speed. Jack also enjoys playing with is toys. Gentle, 4 year old, black boy. Jerry is laid back, very friendly and content. Loves being around people and will stand beside you all day long if you are offering ear rubs! He walks good on the lead, travels very well, and gets on brilliantly with other dogs. Jerry severed his achilles tendon in May last year and had an operation in Dublin. He was in a home convalescing for 6 months, during that time he was the perfect patient. This injury is now fully healed and poses no further problems. Likes to roach on his back after his walks and we know Jerry is going to relish being back in a home again. He's a great dog and deserves a good and loving retirement. Jerry is not cat friendly.
