These pups are 10 weeks old Jack Russel cross. Two boys, Raisin is the brindle fellow and Rascal the fawn chap. They are fully vaccinated and wormed. Very sweet and friendly. They should stay reasonably small. They are both looking for great homes, where they will be made part of the family. They will require a nice secure garden and lots of fun and exercise. Paulines rescue prefers to home to places where the dog will have some company during the day e.g from a companion dog or in a home where someone only works short hours. Location Cork. A home check will be carried out before homing.

TROOPER
Big, soft, white & black, 2 year old male. He has a very pretty spotty coat and a black patch over his left eye. Trooper has just recovered from a broken hock, and is now ready to go to a loving home. He is a very easy dog, good on the lead and with other dogs, and loves cuddles! Trooper has had lots of human contact so is well used to being handled and fussed over. Details of our adoption procedure, and our questionnaire, can be found be visiting www.kerrygreyhounds.ie

Sally
Sally is almost 3 yrs old and was found as a stray, most of her hair missing due to mange. She now sports a fine deep black coat, and more importantly, an excellent personality. Sally is one of the most sensible dogs here, well able to play with the gang but also quite willing to remove herself and go curl up in a bed by herself at times. Affectionate but not demanding, good on the leash and in the car, she is a delightful lady to have among the younger dogs and will make an exceptional companion. See www.orchardgreyhoundsanctuary.com

Sofi
Sofi arrived here more than a year ago, extremely fearful and traumatised. About 2 or 3 years old, Sofi is excellent with all dogs here, though she does pull on the leash. Sofi is still shy or frightened of new people, though there has been great improvement. An affectionate girl who is up for a belly rub when she feels relaxed, Sofi seeks an experienced and quiet home where she can continue to learn that people aren't so bad after all. RUBY
Gentle, 2 year old, black female. Ruby was originally bought as a racer, but was found to be too nervous for the track. Her owner then kept her in a shed with another greyhound and provided little socialisation or affection. When Ruby went to foster care she was very timid and unused to the outside world. She currently lives as part of a family with small children and other dogs. Ruby has bonded with her female fosterer, but is still very wary of men. She will need to go to a home with a strong female presence, that has the time and patience to understand her. Ruby is a beautiful, happy dog now, and ready for the next step in her life. Unfortunately, she is not cat friendly.

Sabhdh
Sabhdh (rhymes with five), means 'deer' in Irish, and this leggy lady with her long neck and slim lines only needs some antlers to look like one! Almost 5 yrs old, Sabhdh is eager to please and loves attention. She is playful with the other dogs, but not overly so, and looks you straight in the eye when you are speaking to her. Very cheerful, tail always wagging, great on the leash and in the car, she could be a very good model for a younger dog to follow. She gets along with all the dogs here, and is housetrained and otherwise has good manners. Sabhdh also has a lovely deep black glossy coat and is otherwise healthy and sound. Mikey
About 3 yrs old, Mikey arrived here a bundle of nerves, a result of his history. Mikey has settled down quite a bit, though he does still get himself wound up at the sight of a leash or, his very favorite thing in the world: PEOPLE. Mikey adores people, but is over exuberant. As it is now, he calms the moment someone just puts a hand on his side - a sign that he is just starving for affection. He is a lovely friendly boy, black with white speckles on his coat, who gets along with all the other dogs. Good on the leash and in the car, Mikey would make a great companion for any dog, Mikey does not have a bad bone in his body. See www.orchardgreyhoundsanctuary.com

Ciara
Ciara is a small-medium 6 year old who is a well-behaved and well socialised lady. Very good on the leash and in the car, Ciara adjusted to life here very easily, and blended immediately with the other dogs. No shrinking violet, however, she can run hard and play hard with the rest of them, though seems to be well able to keep the hooligans in line should they start playing a bit too hard. She does not have a tendency to jump up or be over-exuberant, (though she loves a good roll in the grass) and so might do well in a family with smaller children. Undemanding and yet appreciative of the attention she gets, Ciara is a solid citizen who would do well in almost any home. For more photos of Ciara go to www.orchardgreyhoundsanctuary.com

Clareen
Only turning 2 yrs old in January 2010, Clareen is a very busy girl! Despite her small size, Miss Curiosity is always on the move looking for something to do, something to play with, someone to play with, a person to follow around, a person to smother with kisses, a dog to run with...whatever. She loves company, and loves, for example, to follow me around as I do garden work....'oh' she says 'what's that you have there? what will you do with that? Can I lick it? Can I have it? Can I sniff it? Oh now what are you doing?' and so on! Just great with other dogs, on the leash and in the car, she would make a great companion for another active dog. Having just turned 1 in April 2009, Gavin is a very happy and biddable boy. He gets along with the other dogs in his group but does try to get away with being a bit bossy. Great on the leash and in the car too, Gavin loves water, and often has his front legs IN the water bucket. Playful, handsome, and quite clever, Gavin just loves people despite having had a rough start. He would make a great companion for a large and energetic dog, and no doubt will run the legs off it! Meg
Meg is a three year old ex racing greyhound. She's a shy quiet gentle girl. We feel Meg hasn't had much socialisation until she came to the sanctuary. However she is learning fast at the sanctuary and we hope in no time Meg will be a happy girl. Meg's coat is in poor condition, she has very little hair in her rear quarters. Meg is not a very big girl and she will in time be a little beauty. Meg gets on very well with her kennel mates. We feel that once Meg gets into a home situation and surrounded by people who love her she will come in leaps and bounds. She really is a special girl who deserves to be loved and happy. Before Meg goes to her new home she will be spayed and a homecheck will be required.

Max
Max is an older greyhound (five or six years plus) that has been saved from the shotgun. He was used as a stud dog and as he is pushing on a bit now his owner felt that Max had outlived his usefulness. Max has had a very hard life, locked up in a shed with nothing but a hard floor to lie on and forced to lie in his own excrement. You would think that such hardship would make a dog wary and bad-tempered, but instead, Max is the most wonderful dog imaginable. He is so gentle that a small child could walk him. He looks at us with his beautiful brown, trusting eyes, and it melts all our hearts. Max is one of those greyhounds that teaches us just how much dogs are prepared to forgive. Max is underweight but we can fix that with good nutritious food. He has an old leg injury but this has healed and really doesn't hamper him. Tonight Max is in a warm fluffy bed in the sanctuary with his tummy full and a radiator at his back to warm his bones. He must think all his birthdays have come at once. Will you make his dream come true, and offer him a home? If you haven't considered a greyhound as a pet before, we would be delighted to talk to you about it. Max will be more than happy to be a couch-potato and will bring you great laughter and joy. We ask for a minimum adoption fee of 120 euro to help cover some of our veterinary costs. A home check is required to make sure you have a totally enclosed back garden, no dog pens or invisible fence systems, please.
