Ebony is only 9 months old and is very gentle and obedient. We think that she is a labrador / hound cross and she has a very distinct long tail.She loves to play and is great on and off the lead. Her favourite game is fetch and she adores people and dogs. She suffered slightly from separation anxiety when first rescued from the pound but her time in foster care has thought her that being alone = treats so she is gradually getting over it. She is beautiful inside and out and shows no signs of aggression/ dominance / fear so she will fit in to any family. Westie Rescue Ireland is a voluntarily-run organisation dedicated to rescuing and rehoming West Highland White Terriers. We always carry out home visits, and all of our Westies are assessed, neutered and vaccinated prior to rehoming. Please note, we do NOT rehome Westies to families with children under 10 years old: Westies tend not to have the patience or tolerance a dog needs to have to live with small kids full time. Buddy is a 7ish year old neutered male Westie. Buddy was in a terrible state when we got him from the pound, he was badly neglected and in quite a lot of pain. But all's well now, he's back to full health and looking super too! He's a friendly little chap, and gets on well with people and other dogs alike. He loves to be out in the garden pottering about, but also likes free access to the house, so we're looking for a home for him where he can have the best of both worlds! Like all Westies, Buddy knows what he likes and can be stubborn, but isn't that why we love Westies?! Please consider an adult cat- while kittens are adorable, they grow quickly and will be adults before you know it! If you are out working or are retired, it may be more suitable for you to have an adult cat, who will be content to laze around the house and will be just as affectionate and happy to see you on your return home, as a kitten will! Adult cats are always in dire need of homes....please give one a chance! Also bear in mind that any cat you adopt will need to be kept indoors for a minimun of six weeks until he/she becomes totally familiar with new surroundings.

Snowy's elderly owner died recently and he was cruelly turfed out of the sheltered accomodation he had shared with her, by the caretaker of the building!. A kind neighbour kept Snowy around the area by feeding him daily, but as he was not in a position to adopt Snowy himself, he contacted us for help. Poor Snowy was so traumatized by his eviction that he would not come near anyone! It took us two months to catch him, but he is now doing very well in foster care! An indoor home or a home with a garden in a safe area would be ideal for him. Snowy is approx 7yrs old, all white, in good health, neutered and micro chipped. Please note that Cavan SPCA is not part of the Cavan Dog Pound but we do work with the dog warden to help as many dogs as possible and get them homes and into rescue places. Opening hours of the pound to view the dogs are Monday and Wednesday 10am-12pm, Friday 9.30am-11.00am. The donation for dogs in the pound is 20euro + you will have to get a dog licence and all veterinary treatments vaccinations, neutering, worming, de-fleaing etc if it has not been done by the previous owners if your responsibility.
